Since the release of Honkai: Star Rail, many NPCs have stood out with their intriguing personalities and designs. One such character is Screwllum, a member of the Intellitron Genius Society, who was first introduced in Version 1.1.

Despite numerous rumors and leaks, HoYoverse has yet to confirm if Screwllum will join the playable roster. However, with the upcoming Amphoreus arc, his chances of debuting anytime soon seem increasingly uncertain.

Amphoreus Arc and Its Impact on Screwllum’s Release

The Amphoreus arc introduces Greek myth-inspired characters known as the Chrysos Heirs, who will be the main focus for the next several updates. So far, three of these characters are confirmed for upcoming banners:

• Aglaea – Version 3.0 (Second Phase)
• Tribbie & Mydei – Version 3.1

Given that the Amphoreus storyline is set to last for at least eight months, HoYoverse is likely to prioritize new, native characters rather than those from previous storylines.

Additionally, the Trailblazer and Dan Heng are unable to easily contact characters from other worlds, making it unlikely that Screwllum will be introduced anytime soon.

What the Leaks Say About Screwllum

Ever since his introduction, there have been multiple leaks and speculations about Screwllum’s potential role in Honkai: Star Rail. Here’s what we know so far:

• Star Level: Rumored to be a 5-star character
• Element: Imaginary
• Path: Erudition
• Abilities: Allegedly reduces enemy resistance to Imaginary damage

Some leaks have even shown Screwllum’s supposed in-game idle animations, though none of this information has been confirmed by HoYoverse.

Is There Still Hope for Screwllum?

Although there are fears that Screwllum might remain a permanent NPC, HoYoverse has a history of turning popular NPCs into playable characters, as seen in Genshin Impact with Xianyun (Cloud Retainer).

Furthermore, the Amphoreus arc may still have a connection to the Genius Society. The story mentions that Amphoreus is bound by three Paths, including Erudition—the very Path that the Genius Society follows under Nous, the Aeon of Erudition.

This could explain why Herta—another Erudition character—was introduced early in the Amphoreus arc. Perhaps Screwllum might find his way into the story in a future update, increasing the likelihood of his debut.

Final Thoughts

For now, Honkai: Star Rail fans can only speculate on Screwllum’s future. While the Amphoreus arc may delay his release, there is still a chance that he could become playable later in the game’s lifecycle.
