Genshin Impact 5.6 & 5.7 Leaks: New Cryo Support, Skirk Team Synergy & More

With Genshin Impact Version

5.6 and 5.7 on the horizon, fresh leaks have shed light on upcoming characters, including a new five-star Cryo support and how she fits into Skirk’s team compositions. Early rumors hinted at her design and abilities, but recent information has clarified her appearance, role, and synergy with other Cryo units.

Additionally, Skirk’s kit and team synergy are shaping up to be unique, introducing a playstyle that could significantly impact Cryo teams. In this breakdown, we’ll explore the latest details, what remains uncertain, and how these changes might influence future team compositions.

Disclaimer: Leaks Are Subject to Change

Before diving in, keep in mind that this information is based on leaks, and the 5.6 beta hasn’t even started yet. While character designs are usually finalized early in development, details like abilities, mechanics, and even names can still change before release. Until we see gameplay in the beta, take everything with a grain of salt.

New 5-Star Cryo Support in Version 5.6

Initial leaks suggested that the upcoming Cryo support in 5.6 resembled Asuna from Sword Art Online, but that’s not the case. Instead, her appearance is more in line with Peine from Princess Connect! Re: Dive, featuring a slimmer build, blonde hair, and white stockings for a more sensual design.

She is set to be released in Version 5.6, with gameplay leaks expected in just 8 days once the beta begins. Due to a recent shift in the drip marketing schedule, her official splash art won’t be revealed until a week after 5.5 launches, but we’ll still get to see her in-game model and animations much sooner.

Skirk’s Unique Kit & Playstyle

Skirk, a versatile Cryo DPS, is shaping up to have a distinctive playstyle with two modes:

  • On-field mode: She can stay on-field, using rapid Cryo attacks while her clone fights alongside her.
  • Off-field mode: She can switch out after unleashing a high-damage burst, leaving her clone to continue dealing Cryo hits.

One of the most intriguing aspects of her kit is the “Zero Energy” system, allowing her to function without the typical energy recharge constraints. However, this raises questions about her team compatibility and cooldown mechanics.

The Chef Girl: Cryo Polearm Support in 5.6

The Cryo support character, whose name is rumored to be either Ay or Effie, wields a polearm and is built as a Cryo enabler and healer.

Abilities & Role:

  • Consistent Cryo application
  • Healing capabilities
  • -45% Cryo & Hydro resistance shred

A -45% resistance debuff is a massive boost for Cryo teams, making her a perfect support unit for Skirk.

Synergy: Skirk, Furina & the Cryo Support

On paper, Skirk, Furina, and the Cryo support form a strong Freeze team:

  • Furina provides Hydro application to enable Freeze.
  • The Cryo support ensures consistent Cryo uptime while healing and shredding enemy resistance.
  • Skirk delivers powerful Cryo DPS with her clone mechanic.

However, a few concerns remain:

  • Skirk’s Zero Energy system might still require additional energy support, depending on cooldowns and uptime.
  • If Skirk’s kit has a forced switch-out mechanic, it might clash with the Cryo support’s healing, making team synergy timing-dependent.

What About Version 5.7?

Skirk’s role in 5.7 is still somewhat of a mystery, but her potential synergy with a strong Cryo support could make her a must-pull for Cryo-focused teams.

Final Thoughts: Are These Characters Worth Pulling?

The new Cryo support and Skirk seem to offer game-changing potential for Cryo teams, but how well they actually perform will depend on the beta testing results.

Are you planning to pull for Skirk or the Cryo support, or are you waiting to see more gameplay first? Let us know in the comments!
